You can buy an identically
equipped Fuji in either of two frame materials, steel (Finest)
or aluminum (Finest-AL). A Finest-AL isn't made from just any
aluminum, it's custom butted and tapered 7005 alloy. Good
stuff. The Finest-AL's frame is lighter and higher-tech than the Finest's. It is newly "re-tuned" to increase its ride compliance, to eliminate any hint of aluminum's hard ride. Gone. No hard ride from the bike's aero-shaped Cro-Moly fork, either. The Shimano Sora parts and CRP bar and stem are known for dependability and lightness. The brake/shift levers on the handlebars are ready for the addition of a Shimano Flight Deck computer, a font of useful information. How do you choose between a Finest and a Finest-AL? If you're planning to install a luggage rack or to take trips with saddlebags, I'd buy the steel Finest. It's easier to mount those things on the Finest's frame. If you're doing your club's weekend rides, and those rides are faster than you'd really like, I'd buy a Finest-AL. The aluminum bike will feel faster, more like a racing bike. Maybe you'll feel faster too, more like a bike racer. |
