This is the flagship of the
fleet-the model that started Fuji's foray into mountain bike
making in 1983. It's the pointed end of 19 years of research
and development.
The heart of this beast is its X-Fusion Alpha frame. It's not
just light. It's not just strong. It's a revolutionary new
aluminum alloy. That means in addition to the elements that
make up aluminum alloy, there are "ceramic
inclusions" that allow the tubes to be radically shaped
(such as the biaxially ovalized PowerDiamond downtube and
custom-tapered/butted TrailTuned seat- and chain stays)
without compromising strength. But that's not all. There's a
secret ingredient that causes the grain structure to realign
after welding. Translation: It's really strong stuff that
allows welds, so you don't have to use a whole lot of it. The
result is one incredibly light, incredibly strong frame that
climbs hills, slithers through singletrack, and carves
descents better than your wildest dreams.
Don't dilly-dally over this one. Fuji only makes a few and
they sell out quickly. The Mt. Fuji is available as a frame
alone, or built into a 21-pound wonderbike that'll leave the
rest of the crowd wondering how you got out of sight so fast
and if you'll be kind enough to wait up any time soon. I say
