No, it's not a defunct comic
strip, B-grade Sean Connery sci-fi flick or a place
beyond the closet. It's my personal belief that Outland is
short for "Outlandishly affordable Shimano 9-speed
equipped mountain bike." And it is.
All that shifting happens by way of Shimano Deore 9-speed
shifters and derailleur that swoop you from the itty bitty
11-tooth high gear to the root-pulling 32-tooth low in single,
double or triple clicks. So you can plink from one gear to
it's neighbor to fine-tune your pedal speed to match your
comfort level, or wail your way across a bunch of cogs when
that sweet downhill you're on suddenly dips into the
inevitable uphill that follows.
But don't forget to stop all that gear clicking and tune into
how sweet it is to feel your leg power translated into motion
by the Outland's Custom 7005 alloy frame with PowerDiamond
down tube, TrailTuned custom tapered stays and Edge S-bend
MonoStay. You'll also appreciate the bump-smoothing prowess of
SunTour's XCP-D suspension fork with 80mm of spring-cushioned
vertical compliance.
Want more stopping power within your budget? Feel free to swap
out your linear-pull stoppers for a pair of Avid's Mechanical
Discs because the Outland comes to you disc ready. Lucky you.
