Ever wanted to walk on the wild
side but your wallet said, "No!"? Time to lace 'em
up and get walking, cowpoke. The Fuji Tahoe delivers hardcore
hard tail performance, just like its big brothers, but keeps
the budget under four digits. It's easy, really. Just
substitute custom butted 7005 aluminum alloy frame tubing for
X-Fusion metal matrix composite, then carefully select the
best choices in entry-level competition-worthy components such
as Shimano's Deore LX rear derailleur, Ritchey's forged
aluminum crankset and RockShox's Air Judy XC suspension fork.
And if you've been hankering to try disc brakes on for size,
you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that Avid's Mechanical
Disc brake performs nearly as well as hydraulic discs-but with
none of the inherent complexity that comes with compressing
brake pads with pressurized fluid. You can also dial the RockShox Air Judy XC's travel from an awesome 80mm to a whopping
100mm to suit whatever your local terrain and personal riding
style dictate.
The Tahoe is equally at home on the starting line of a muddy
NORBA cross-country race as it is on a high and dusty IMBA
Epic Ride. But that shouldn't keep you from tooling around the
local park any time you feel like it.
