Bottom Line:…like going from driving a dump truck to jumping into a corvette…I just loved the feel. Smooth ride and corners very well. I don't have a lot of hills but I managed to max out at 51kph at the bottom of one of the small hills I do have. I never once felt like the bike was going to come out from under me and was trying to get even more speed out of it. The frame is stiff (and I am a bigger rider at 6'3” and 240lbs) and responds well to when I put power into the wheels. Even in the high winds it still performs very nicely…

Bottom Line: Wow is all I can say….quality is high, not only in the component selection but the frame looks and feels quality. I wanted a more relaxed ride than my Cannondale offered and rode a synapse but didnt feel like I was in a more relaxed position. I tried a few bikes and talked to people and almost thought a used Trek was all I could get, a new one was out of the question do to overly priced Treks. …arrived professionally packed and partially assembled….After a few rides I can honestly say the bike is a big upgrade in comfort compared to my Cannondale and other bikes I had ridden…relaxed riding position the RT1000 corners nicely with the front end feeling planted….the RT 1000 doesnt give up much and makes up for and surpasses others in overall ride.
The MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) for this model is $2500. The MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) is $2399
Hit the gas and the Kestrel RT1000 will respond with agility, sweeping though the corners with confidence and roaring up the road with aerodynamic efficiency. Yet, power and efficiency means little if you're not comfortable.
Kestrel knows carbon, as the first manufacturer of an all-carbon frame, and they've put decades of experience into making the RT1000 one of the smoothest riding bikes on the market. The RT1000 was built with an endurance geometry that employs a longer head tube compared to some full-race machines, keeping you in a comfortable position you can maintain as the miles add up.
Kestrel takes care of the drivetrain with a new Shimano Ultegra 11sp and Oval Concepts components for lightning quick shifts. A set of aerodynamic Oval Concepts wheels, wrapped in Vittoria tires, completes this bike, making it fit to fly.
Outside Magazine’s “Bike of the Year”, the RT series continues to evolve into a lighter, faster machine. The RT1000 features aero-sculpted, sleek design decked out with Shimano Ultegra , and Oval Concepts components providing the rider with a comfortable ride while delivering maximum speed. Internal cable routing, a semi-sloping top tube, and a semi-integrated head tube place the RT1000 ahead of the pack.
