The replaceable hanger is specifically designed and engineered to bend or break like an electrical fuse in cases of impact, mis-adjustment or mis-shift. The hanger sacrifices itself to reduce the chances of damaging your frame from what might otherwise be non-repairable damage.*

*If one does not stop in time after the hanger breaks or the misshift / impact is too severe, additional parts may be damaged. Broken Derailleur hangers and any incidental or consequential damages are not covered by warranty by any manufacturer or by Bikesdirect.

Helpful tips:
1) If your bike is not shifting correctly or the chain is noisy or skipping this indicates something needs to be tuned up.
2) The bike should not be ridden until it is properly adjusted/tuned.
3) When you install any new drivetrain parts like a derailleur hanger, your drivetrain should be checked for proper adjustment prior to any riding.
